The concept of the Higher Self is present in some form in almost all spiritual practices, including Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, and individualized practices separate from any major world religions.

At Higher Self Yoga, we see the Higher Self as an extension of yourself that is part of you and part of the Source—the ultimate higher power, the universal source of cosmic energy.

This energy links us to everyone and everything. We are all interconnected through shared energy. And as this universal energy—this higher consciousness—is contained within each one of us, we can use the Higher Self to access this universal wisdom and knowledge from within.

What would you want to know if you had access to this kind of knowledge? How would you use this information to transform yourself and the world around you? Higher Self Yoga guides practitioners along this very journey and through countless ways that the Higher Self can be used to better your life.

Why would I want to connect to my Higher Self?

Your Higher Self connects you to your best self and fullest potential. Many belief systems encourage practitioners to live their lives guided by their Higher Selves because of the consequences in their next life. However, most don’t also explore how living your life in unity with your Higher Self can transform your life as it stands today. We strive to do just that.

At Higher Self Yoga, our aim is enlightenment through self-awareness. Our mission is to teach you how to use the Higher Self to be the most fulfilled version of yourself in this life.

By connecting to the Higher Self you can discover who you are, what path you should be on, and where you’re meant to go. With It, you can explore where your strengths lie and how to use them, how to identify the centermost challenges in your life and then how to overcome them, what work you should be doing to be most fulfilled, what mission you should dedicate your life to, the kinds of relationships you should be forging, and more.

Connecting with your Higher Self requires contemplation and introspection.

And once you know who you are and where you want to be, you’ll likely find there is also a lot of work to be done to get to that place. This is a difficult but fulfilling process that can facilitate some of the most important and satisfying changes in your life.

In tandem with promoting spiritual connection, our practice also provides practitioners with practical tools, experiential exercises, and communication strategies from various schools of psychology to implement some of the changes they need to make in their life.

Every person’s journey is unique and we all have our own obstacles to overcome. Our blog touches on some of the most common struggles people face on their journey of self-discovery and self-improvement. We discuss topics like navigating difficult conversations and stopping negative thought patterns using the wisdom and guidance of your Higher Self.

But the first step is learning how to connect to your Higher Self.

Resources to Help You Connect to Your Higher Self

Connecting to the Higher Self takes practice. For those just beginning on this journey, the following resources may help to establish those first few connections.

Method 1: Guided Meditations

Close your eyes and feel your whole body relaxing. First, your feet are going to relax, then your legs, your thighs, your stomach, chest, shoulders and arms, your neck and head. Now your whole body is feeling relaxed. Take some deep breaths and center yourself by linking with your heart chakra, which is located in the center of your chest.

With each breath feel the cares of the day dissolving into nothing and try to let go of any thoughts and feelings. Imagine you are sitting in your home meditating. The doorbell rings and you go to the door and open it. On the other side is your Higher Self. It enters and sits down across from you.

When you feel you are experiencing It, imagine the sun shining down on It and notice if It changes. If It stays the same or gets brighter, then It is your Higher Self. If it disappears or gets dark, tell it to leave, and try the exercise again. When you feel connected, ask the Higher Self questions that can be answered with a signal for a “yes” answer, a “no” answer, or a “maybe” answer.

When you feel ready to end the conversation, ask the Higher Self if It has anything else it needs to tell you. Listen to Its answer, which may take the form of actual words, thoughts, or impressions. Then thank your Higher Self and write down everything that has happened.

Method 2: Coaching

Some may feel more comfortable with the direct attention of a Higher Self Yoga expert that has been involved with the practice for 30+ years. The benefits of a spiritual coach are indisputable: they can keep you focused, introduce you to new ideas, and connect you to other like-minded students.

With a one-on-one coach, you can draw on their personal experience, seek tips for the best ways to navigate this journey, and ask questions about your unique situation.

A coach can also help motivate you and hold you accountable to a personalized plan that will integrate a balanced spiritual practice into your life and help you achieve your goals.

Method 3: Higher Self Yoga Books

Higher Self Yoga books also go into more depth about how to connect to the Higher Self. They spend more time exploring the concept of the Higher Self, alternate methods for connection, and details like how to tell if you’re truly connecting to your Higher Self or just following your conscious desires.

We recommend starting with Higher Self Yoga, Book I as a foundation, but all of the books listed will provide more information on how to connect with the Higher Self and how to apply it to specific ways in your life where you may need it most.

Learning to seamlessly commune with your Higher Self is a practice. But at Higher Self Yoga, we’re dedicated to this mission.
